MARK MCKEE

Board President | Head of School | Viewpoint School

​

Mark McKee is currently serving as President and Head of School at Viewpoint School in Calabasas, a K-12 coed day school of 1,215 students in the Santa Monica Mountains. 

 

Mark has improved the diversity and increased the capacity for innovation of every school community in which he has worked, building trust, shared vision and creative confidence. Under his leadership, St. Matthew's revitalized curricular and program development, substantially completed an ambitious strategic plan and master plan for their historic campus, and held its first capital campaign to build much needed space for program improvement and enrollment growth.

Mark has extensive governance experience, having served on school and nonprofit boards, including Trinity School (CA), Keys School (CA), Peninsula Bridge, California Teacher Development Collaborative (CATDC), and the Silas Bronson Library (CT). A founding member of the CAIS (CT) Commission on Diversity in Independent Schools (CODIS), Mark served as Co- Chair and co-founder of the CODIS Annual Diversity Conference. 

 

Mark holds an A.B. in Classics from Harvard College. He completed graduate coursework at University of California, Irvine, and he is currently completing his Ed.D. dissertation in Educational Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University. Mark and his wife have two daughters who attended five independent schools. A native Californian, Mark enjoys marathon and triathlon, cooking for family and friends, and singing.
