ROSE HELM

Head of School, The John Thomas Dye School

Rose Helm is the Head of School at The John Thomas Dye School (JTD), a K-6 independent school in Los Angeles, where she has been since 2017. Previously, Rose was at The Hamlin School, a girls’ K-8 school in San Francisco, where she was Middle School Division Head and taught English. Earlier in her career, she taught at JTD and her alma mater Harbor Day School, a K-8 independent school in Corona del Mar, CA and also worked for several years in marketing and public relations in San Francisco. Rose serves on the Board of Windward School and Marymount High School and is the Vice President of the Elementary School Heads Association. She has presented at national conferences on a wide array of topics, including hiring and retaining people of color in independent schools, emergency preparedness and response, leadership development, and strategic planning. Rose holds an M.A. in English Literature from UC Irvine and a B.A. in Art History from Princeton University, where she was also captain of the Volleyball Team. Rose and her husband Peter have a daughter who attends secondary school at an ISA Member School.
